Packaging

We understand the environmental impact of unnecessary and non-recyclable packaging. That is why our goal is that by the end of 2025, 100% of Pams packaging will be reusable, recyclable or home compostable.

To move closer to our goals we have developed 10 Sustainable Packaging Principles that guide us and our supplier partners.

These principles broadly focus on:

  • Removing and reducing unnecessary packaging.
  • Designing packaging from materials that can be easily recycled.
  • Where possible, using recycled materials to keep materials in use for longer and avoid waste.
  • Ensuring packaging is clearly labelled to let the customer know the best way to dispose of the packaging after its use.
Simplifying Recycling

Recycling can be confusing, but we’ve made it easier by adopting the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) on our products. The ARL is a recycling labelling system for Australia and New Zealand created by the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO). It tells you what can be recycled and how.

If you see the below ARL, it means that this packaging component can be disposed of in your kerbside recycling bin. Just ensure it has been rinsed before dropping it in your bin. If you see this ARL on a plastic bottle, tray or container that means the plastic is a 1, 2 or 5.

If you see the below ARL, it means that this packaging component should be disposed of in general rubbish because it is non-recyclable.

Soft Plastics Recycling Scheme

We’re part of the Soft Plastics Recycling Scheme, which collects soft plastics, like bags and wrappers, to be recycled into new products. Check the back of your Pams products for a soft plastics recycling logo and check locally where you can drop off your soft plastics.

If you see the below ARL, it means that this packaging component can be recycled at a drop off location. Just ensure the packaging is empty, clean and dry. If you want to recycle bags and wrapping from foods give the bag a quick rinse, then turn it inside out to air dry overnight. Food and Drink Cartons

We’ve partnered with the Food and Beverage Carton Recycling Scheme so that it is easier for you to recycle your milk and juice cartons.

If you see this ARL, it means that this packaging component can be recycled at a drop off location. Just ensure all packaging is opened out, clean and flat (and the caps are on). Click this link to find your nearest drop of location: Drop off locations - Food & Beverage Carton Recycling Scheme

Caps and Lids

A trial scheme to recycle caps and lids is currently underway. You can participate by collecting your plastic and metal caps and lids and dropping them off at select stores.
