No Prep Bacon Hock and Vege Soup

Stretch your dollar and utilise your slow cooker with this easy and delicious bacon hock and vege soup. Packed with flavour and no prep necessary – it's the perfect winter warmer!

Tips & Tricks
  • For extra flavour, add a couple of bay leaves and a large sprig of thyme to your slow cooker – remove before serving.
  • Serve with a sprinkle of grated parmesan, some freshly cracked black pepper and toasted bread on the side.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag Pams Vege Soup Mix (including flavour sachet)
  • ½ bag Pams Soup Mix
  • 1 smoked bacon hock
  • 1 tin Pams Diced Tomatoes in Juice with Garlic & Oregano
  • 1 bag Pams Silverbeet, stems removed and roughly chopped

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients (besides the silverbeet) in the slow cooker and cover with cold water. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  2. Around 30 minutes before serving, remove the bacon hock from the slow cooker and use a fork to pull all the meat off the bone.
  3. Return the pulled apart meat to the slow cooker along with the chopped silverbeet, and leave to continue cooking for 20-30 minutes before serving.
