Prep time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: 50 minutes

A French classic with a plant-based twist. This apple tarte is sticky, sweet and fabulously fruity – especially delicious when served with scoops of ice cream!

Tips & Tricks
  • You can make this dessert with any fruit! We also love using stone fruit in summer, or pears in autumn.
  • If you don’t have an oven-proof or cast-iron pan, make your tarte tatin in a cake tin or pie dish.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup Pams Olive Spread or Pams Coconut Oil
  • 1 cup Pams White Sugar
  • 6 Pams Apples, peeled & cut into thick slices
  • ½ tsp Pams Cinnamon
  • 1 sheet Pams Plant Based Vegetarian Pastry
  • ½ tub Pams Plant Based Vanilla Ice Cream

Method

  1. Add the spread/oil, sugar and a pinch of salt to a medium oven-proof pan. Place on a medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, for 5 minutes until the caramel is lightly golden and bubbling.
  2. Add the apples and cinnamon, and continue stirring frequently. Reduce the fruit & caramel mixture until it’s thick and sticky and the apples are soft, about 10 – 15 minutes.
  3. On a clean surface, gently roll out the piece of pastry so that it’s big enough to cut a circle the same size as your pan. Lay the pastry on top of the apples and press down, tucking in the edges on the sides of the pan. Prick with a fork and pop in the oven to bake at 180°C for 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
  4. Remove from the oven and set aside to rest for a few minutes. Place a serving plate over top of the pan, then carefully flip and invert the tart onto the plate, apple side up.
  5. Cut into wedges and serve with scoops of Pams Plant Based Vanilla Ice Cream.
