Egg Carton Planters

Prep time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 0 mins

Egg shell planters are a great way to germinate seeds in a fun and eco-friendly way. The best part is when your seeds have sprouted and are ready to be moved to the garden - you can just pop the shell straight in as they’ll naturally compost in the soil!

Tips & Tricks
  • Unleash your kids creativity and get them to draw pictures and label the rows of each vegetable name on the carton.

Ingredients

  • 1 carton of Pams Free Range Eggs (you’ll just need the carton and empty shells)
  • 2 cups potting mix
  • Vegetable seeds Markers for labelling

Method

  1. Save the egg shells from your cooking and store in the egg carton, for when you’re ready to get planting.
  2. Spoon the potting mix into the egg shells, then gently sow your seeds, by pushing shallow holes into the soil and sprinkling a few of the seeds. Keep your shells standing in the carton for ease of planting.
  3. Lightly cover the seeds with a sprinkling of potting mix, then lightly spray over some water.
  4. Wait for them to grow, ensuring they’re watered daily! When the seedlings are standing on their own, pop them straight into the garden bed, shell and all.
